Teton Pass reopens three weeks after massive landslide
BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Governor Little has announced that Teton Pass has reopened after a major landslide closed the highway for weeks.
Earlier this month a landslide wiped out a significant chunk of roadway along the Teton Pass, the main gateway road into Jackson Hole from the west. Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT), Idaho Department of Transportation, and other emergency management officers worked 24/7 to repair the important artery.
Jackson Hole and WYDOT worked on providing bussing and alternate transportation to seasonal workers who live in Eastern Idaho and tourists, an important lifeblood to the local economy spurred on by access to Yellowstone National Park.
In just under three weeks, emergency crews have been able to reopen the pass. Signs and markers in the area will notify drivers to slow down as they approach the newly constructed roadway.
