Tacomas Elks Temple And Spanish Ballroom Set For April 24th Debut
TACOMA, Wash. (CelebrityAccess) — After years of planning and restoration, the Oregon and Washington-based hospitality group McMenamins is preparing to open the Elks Temple and Spanish Ballroom in Tacoma.
The opening, set for April 24th, will feature breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as a performance by the “gypsy punk” duo Champagne Sunday.
Upcoming shows on the Spanish Ballroom’s calendar as part of the grand opening festivities include Knife Knights on April 25th; Giants in the Trees on April 26th; Retrospecter on April 28th; An Evening with my Siamese Twin on April 29th; and Erina on April 30th.
First opened in 1916 as a meeting hall for a fraternal organization, the Elks Temple was abandoned for decades after the Elks relocated to a new building in 1965.
In 2007, the property was acquired my McMenamins and in 2009, they announced plans to renovate the property with an eye to re-opening in 2012, but delays pushed renovations back to 2017.
The renovated building includes the McMenamins Brewery, the Bottle Shop & Brewery Tasting Room, and The Old Hangout bar and a hotel, as well as the Spanish Ballroom, a 700-capacity concert space, replete with a Bose audio system.
The Elks Temple is just one of a series of unique venues which are operated by McMenamins. Other properties include Boons Treasury in Salem, Or.; The Bagdad Theater & Pub in Portland, Ore.; The Cyrstal Ballroom & Hotel in Portland, Ore.; and the Old St. Francis Schoolhouse in Bend, Ore.
