During the most recent episode of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Lisa Rinna shared an incredible story about her mom, Lois. Lisa revealed that before she was born, Lois was kidnapped and stabbed by David Carpenter, who was known as the Trailside Killer.

During the 70s and 80s, Carpenter terrorized Northern California, and Rinna said her mom used to work with the notorious killer.

“A few years before I was born, my mom was attacked by a man that she worked with. He picked her up at the bus stop and then, all of a sudden, he started to drive her down this really deserted road,” Lisa said.

She added that Carpenter tried to rape and kill her mom, but luckily, a military policeman saw them turn down the deserted road, and he followed them because he knew no one was supposed to be driving there.

“My mom was saved that day by that military policeman,” explained Lisa.

Lois is now 90 years old, and when she recalled the traumatic event, she said she remembers Carpenter having a hammer in one hand and a knife in the other, and he stabbed her in the hand and hit her head repeatedly with the hammer.

After surviving the attack, Lois said she was the first person Carpenter went to jail for, and he ended up getting a seven-and-a-half year sentence.

Lisa says that her mom didn’t tell her about the horrific event until she was much older. The Melrose Place alum says that when she found out, she had great sadness and empathy for her mother for two reasons. The first being that she had to experience something so horrible and the second being that she stuffed away those feelings for years.

According to Us Weekly, Lois ended up getting metal plates in her head and cannot smell because of her injuries from the attack. Lisa says her mom never dealt with it or talked with anyone about it.

Carpenter was in and out of prison during the 1960s and 70s, and after his second release from prison, he killed four people during a six-week period in 1980. A year later, he killed two more people before getting caught when another survivor identified him.

In 1984, Carpenter received the death sentence, and he is currently on death row in San Quentin State Prison.
