Idaho Aquarium contacts Boise PD over social media hack
BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Staff members at the Idaho Aquarium have contacted Boise Police after its social media accounts have apparently been hacked.
Over the past few days, Idaho Aquarium's Facebook and Twitter accounts have "posted" various negative comments about the facility.
"Boycott outside the Idaho Aquarium 10am Saturday!! Tell all your friends!!" the aquarium's account posted Friday afternoon.
"We are sinking this ship over here," its Twitter account posted.
Nate Hall, head marine biologist, told KBOI 2News that staff members were aware of the hack.
"We are handling it internally," Hall said. "We don't know who did it, but we are working with Boise Police."
Hall said the aquarium has not posted anything on its Facebook or Twitter accounts explaining the confusing posts because "we don't want to acknowledge the hackers."
