Two-time NASCAR Xfinity Series champion Dale Earnhardt Jr. has boldly commented on racing prodigy Carson Hocevar. He is set to make his Cup series full-time debut next year with Spire Motorsports, replacing outgoing Ty Dillon. Hocevar is infamous for his aggressive driving, and following the 2023 Truck Season, he has been under intense scrutiny.

He was one of the four drivers fighting for the title at Phoenix, and his aggressive move on fellow chaser Corey Heim went south as the TRD driver got wrecked. The race went on to see multiple crashes, and towards the end of the race, Heim retaliated and wrecked the spire Truck. Both of these incidents put a stain on the finale and changed the whole championship picture.

While discussing the incidents and their aftermath in his podcast, Dale Jr. highlighted that if not for the raw talent Hocevar has, he might not have had a race seat in NASCAR as he is a big headache for the team with his hyper-aggressive style. He went on to say that if Hocevar fixed all the issues he had, he is capable of winning championships.

Not to harp on Carson Hocevar too much, but I compliment him because of his ability, right? Imagine him with this activity and not the ability that he has. He’d be out. His career would be in the trash. The only reason why anybody, the only reason why he still has a hope of a career is because he really does have genuine speed and ability, the dude is fast, and if he fixes all these issues, he becomes the champ he wants to be.

Corey Heim gave Carson Hocevar a massive warning

Heim was very critical of Hocevar for their run-in at the final race. He claimed that Hocevar has always been racing like that, and he will have an issue once he starts his rookie season at cup level if he remains racing the same.

He’ll wreck you and apologize, and then he’ll do it again. It’s not going to be the last time he does it. Certainly not the first time he’s done it. I’ve known him for a long time… Every guy on Sunday is going to see that and understand that they’re going to be racing against him like that.

Hocevar should learn from Joe Gibbs Racings’ Ty Gibbs, who made significant improvement in terms of his racing style after coming to the Cup with a bad reputation. Trackhouse Racing’s Ross Chastain is another example, who fixed a lot of the issues he had with aggression this season.
