Brazilian tennis season Beatriz Haddad Maia was recently named Woman of the Year and earned the honor of featuring on the front cover on Brazil’s GQ. On Tuesday, January 2, Haddad’s latest achievement earned her a brand new sponsor, ASICS, a sports clothing company that sponsors the likes of Novak Djokovic and Jennifer Brady.

Serbian tennis professional Novak Djokovic has enjoyed a terrific 2023 run, which witnessed him lift his 24th Grand Slam singles title at the 2023 US Open. However, the Serb isn’t the only one who earned laurels in the previous season.

World No. 11 Beatriz Haddad Maia scripted history in the 2023 season after becoming the maiden Brazilian woman in the Open Era to secure a semifinal spot in the French Open, where she suffered an unfortunate defeat at the hands of Iga Swiatek. Subsequent to her laudable achievements in the previous season, the 27-year-old recently signed ASICS as her official sponsor, a sporting goods company that also serves World No. 1 Novak Djokovic and American Jennifer Brady.

It is worth noting that Asics has an estimated net worth of a whopping $5.75 billion and has officially sponsored 24-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic for his footwear requirements.

Beatriz Haddad Maia bagged both the singles and doubles WTA Elite titles

The 2023 season witnessed the revival of the WTA Elite Trophy for the first time since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which rendered the tournament unable to set up shop. 27-year-old Beatriz Haddad Maia triumphed in both the singles and doubles categories of the annual event.

In the singles category, the Brazilian fenced challenges from the likes of Madison Keys, Caroline Garcia, and Daria Kasatkina to secure a spot in the event’s summit clash. Haddad squared off against home favorite Qinwen Zheng in the final round, downing the Chinese after a hard-fought battle of two sets to lift the singles WTA Elite Trophy.

In the doubles category of the tournament, the World No. 11 joined hands with Russia’s Veronika Kudermetova to down Chinese duo Qianhui Tang and Jiang Xinyu in the event’s opening round. The duo overpowered the pair of Yana Sizikova and Oksana Kalashnikova for an ultimate title clash against Miyu Kato and Aldila Sutjiadi, downing the latter in straight sets to lift their doubles crown.
